Shri Rampal ‘Nutan’ spoke about battle against bureaucracy to stop slaughter. The present administrative system and the psyche of our bureaucrats are the major stumbling blocks.

In the fifth technical session, Shri Vijay Diwan narrated his own experience of working in rural areas with animal carcass. One can remove the skin of buffalo in two hours and can earn Rs. 1500/- in eight hours. He has to identify and work only in   four villages for economic viability.  The intellectuals should join this enterprise and improve its working in relation to method of extraction, sanitation, marketing etc. The Goshalas can become economically viable if they work on animal carcass. There is not much difference between leather of a dead cow and a slaughtered cow.
Shri Ramakant Arte, a close associate of Late Shri Appasaheb Patwardhan, is working on this enterprise for last 30 years and facing problems related to caste. He stressed the involvement of women in this business. It was very difficult to work in villages. Caste Hindus were opposed to taking to this work, but gradually conditions are changing. He appealed to the youths to come forward and take up this work not only for their economic betterment, but also for social change.
In the valedictory session, the participants having grass root experience in field of Goseva and Goraksha narrated their views based on self-experience. They brought out the facts related to legal complications, violation of court’s rulings, resettlement of butchers, mal-practices in the export of meat, maintenance of Gosadans, financial difficulties in cow welfare activities, encroachment of common village lands, grass lands and attitude of ‘Gopalaks’.

Shri Vidyasagar, who is active in Deonar Goraksha Satyagraha since its inception emphasized the spiritual aspect of Satyagraha and appealed to National Commission on Cattle and to the Central Govt. for Central Law for the protection of cow and her progeny.

Shri Eli Gadkar, the Editor of ‘Shanti Sevak’, a monthly magazine of Goraksha Satyagraha highlighted the non-communal and non-violent aspect of cow protection. Cow is the symbol of Indian Culture. If it dies, India dies. We should spread the message of Satyagraha in every nook and corner of the country.
