Govigyan
Bharati an institution sponsored by Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan ,
Vivekananda Research and Training Institute and Sarvodaya organisations of Bombay shall be the sponsoring institution of this Project.
Area
A group of five villages comprising a population of 15 thousand
people and having two
to three thousand cattle heads and ten thousand hectares of land may
be selected for this project.
Gram-Sabhas
of the selected villages shall be asked to pass a resolution to
agree to introduce this project in their village
Period
The period of the project will be of
5 years divided into two parts. The first part of three years
will be for the implementation of various programmes and the later two years part will be for
evaluation and follow-up work.
Approach

Such
activities will be introduced which would
directly benefit the
poorest of the poor i.e.
the
last man of community.

Activities
and programmes should result in reducing inequalities of wealth
and incomes.

programmes and the activities undertaken should enrich
soil-health, improve environment and restore ecological balance

detailed bovine census in the project area.

Cattle-
feed development plan

Improvement
in veterinary services

Rules
and regulations for cattle marketing.

Establish
village level panjarapole and goshalas.

Selection
of local available stock of breeds for selective breeding and
upgrading.

Establish
a proven bull centre for natural servicing.

Introduce
“ KAMDHENU” project to develop dual purpose breed i.e.
combining milk as well as draught qualities in the breed.

Establish
milk collection centre

Installation
of pasteurisation and
milk processing unit.
-
Propagate
milk and milk-products consumption
in the project area specially amongst pregnant women,
milking mothers , babies, sick and the aged.

Improvement
in pricing policy of milk and milk products to promote milk
production. Regulate milk market.

Propagation
of animal driven agriculture implements.

Propagation
of non-motorised transport system.

Establish
animal power based village industries such as Bullock-driven
oil-ghanis, cane-crushing, ginning and carding of cotton, floor
mill, etc.

Installation
of bio-gas plants. Electrical power generation units run on gas
or animal power.

Introduction
of animal - powered irrigation system.

Research
and development in application of animal power in agriculture and village industries.

Introduction
of improved methods of compost
making.

Pest
control by the use of cattle urine and biological control
methods.

and development of
medicines based on dung, urine etc.

development through the use of dung and urine.

Carcass
recovery and flaying.

Establish
village tannery unit

Utilisation
of bone-meal, fats etc.

Training
of villagers in scientific management of
cattle.

various Melas and festivals connected
With cattle.

regional level exhibitions.

Publish
literature on cattle rearing,feeding and management.

subjects related to cattle development in schools,
colleges and training centre’s curriculum.
